Overview

Job SummaryThe Department of English seeks applicants for a non-tenure track, faculty position at the rank of Lecturer beginning August 1, 2026. The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching courses and participating in service within the department, College and University levels. The University does not sponsor new H-1B visas at this time.

ResponsibilitiesDepartment Summary
Teaching up to 15 contact hours per semester (Fall and Spring) and participating in service at the Department, College, and University levels.
Typical Allocation of Duties
Teaching and Service – 100%
Teaches classes and meets assigned service obligations.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in English
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a first-year writing program
- A record of effective teaching appropriate to the applicant's career stage
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative setting
- A record of mentoring students
- Experience in instructional technology

Post-hire training requirements include:
New employee orientation and VSU’s Annual Compliance Training (USG Ethics Policy, Conflict of Interest/Outside Activities Policy, Drug Free Workplace, Sexual Misconduct and Title IX, FERPA, Motor Vehicle Policy, Workers Compensation, Georgia Open Records Act) and USG Cybersecurity Training (twice yearly). Additional job-specific training may include FMLA and Workers’ Compensation, Budget Manager training, Purchasing Training, and Defensive Driving.
