The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in the candidate’s area of expertise.

Department Summary and typical duties are as described below. Role includes teaching first-year writing classes, contributing to retention initiatives (maintaining an up-to-date gradebook in the learning management system, using the Success Portal to set early alerts for attendance and academic progress, and connecting students with support services), and coordinating with First-Year Writing and World Literature programs. Successful candidates who can teach on-campus classes are preferred;
online classes may also be offered.

Required Qualifications- Master’s degree at the time of appointment in the appropriate field (minimum of eighteen hours in English, rhetoric and composition, writing studies, comparative literature, linguistics)
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning
- A record of effective teaching appropriate to the applicant's career stage
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative setting
- A record of mentoring students
