Job SummaryThe Department of Art & Design seeks applicants for a faculty position beginning August 1, 2026. This is a full-time, benefitted tenure-track position. The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in sculpture and 3D/4D foundations, maintaining scholarly productivity, and participating in service at the department, college, and university levels.

Department Summary
Primarily responsible for teaching courses in Sculpture and foundations courses in 3D/4D media, with additional teaching responsibilities as needed. Teaching load will be up to 3/3 per semester. The position includes maintaining the sculpture tools and studio, as well as stewardship of shared teaching and studio spaces. The role also includes student mentoring, recruitment, curriculum management, and community engagement as part of service, and maintaining scholarly productivity.
Typical Allocation of Duties
- Teaching and scholarship – 80%
- Teaching classes and conducting/presenting research in the employee's academic discipline
- Service – 20%
- Participates in service at the department, college, and university levels
- Terminal degree in sculpture (M.F.A.) by appointment date
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning
- Knowledge of skills and practices in studio/design areas, especially sculpture
- Understanding of industry-standard safety practices and protocols
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative setting
- Ability to teach sculpture fabrication, and other techniques such as casting, welding, and use of the wood shop
- A record of effective teaching
- A record of mentoring students
- Ability to work with all levels of undergraduate students
- Ability to maintain budgets related to class resources and studio needs
