Job Summary

The Department of General Education at the University of West Georgia invites applications for part-time Instructors of English Composition. The appointments will begin in Fall 2024 and may be renewed. The positions are contingent on funding and enrollment.

Responsibilities
  • The successful candidate will teach three to seven credit-hours of English composition courses per semester in Carrollton, Newnan, Douglasville, and/or Heard County.
  • The principal modality of instruction will be face-to-face, but some sections may be hybrid or fully online.
  • Most students will be dual-enrolled students participating in the University of West Georgia’s Go West Early campaign.
Required Qualifications
  • The successful candidate will have earned a master’s degree in English, English education, or a closely related field, or have a strong academic preparation in English (at least 18 semester credit hours in English at the graduate level).
  • The successful candidate must be eligible for employment in the United States at the time of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • The successful candidate should be passionate about teaching lower-division English courses. Experience in college-level teaching is desired, along with knowledge of technology applications in English classrooms. Preferred candidates will have prior teaching experience and a demonstrated commitment to student success.
