About the opportunityThis position assumes responsibility and accountability for providing advanced nursing care for patients specializing in the proper management of wound care by treating and monitoring wounds that are the result of disease, injury, or medical treatments. The Wound Care Nurse ensures expert, compassionate, individualized nursing care for patients and families as they collaborate with providers, staff, and other members of the team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Whatyou will do
- Coordinates treatment to provide comprehensive wound assessments and plan of care including goals, implementation of treatment, evaluation and outcomes for patients throughout the organization.
- Possesses knowledge of the anatomy and physiology and disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary and dermal systems.
- Utilizes principles of current wound management theory when providing care to patients with acute and chronic wounds including but not limited to staging of wounds.
- Knowledgeable of surgical procedures and postoperative course of patients undergoing bowel surgery and management of ostomy care for patients and their families.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skill to develop and implement policies and procedures to manage patients with draining wounds, fistulae and/or tubes; wound prevention, wound care, ostomy care and incontinence.
- Provides patient, family education regarding wound management, prevention of pressure ulcers, support surfaces, dressing selections and other therapies associated with wound care.
- Collaborates with physicians and inpatient clinical staff regarding the patient plan of care for wound care management and identified interventions.
- Completes accurate and timely documentation of the patient interaction including but not limited to wound care.
- Coordinates patient care with other physician practices, Vail Health, and others as needed to achieve the highest possible level of patient care and satisfaction.
- Works independently with minimal supervision.
- Delivers excellent service by utilizing Relationship-Based Care to advocate for safety, patient preferences, and optimal communication through partnering with patients and families.

What you will needExperience: Two years experience in medical/surgical, rehabilitation nursing required.
Education: Minimum of Associate Nursing Degree for positions hired after 07/01/2018.
License(s) and Certification(s): Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Colorado or from a valid compact state required;
Basic Life Support (BLS) required;
Certified by the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCP) as a Certified wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurse (CWOCN) or Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) or Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON) required.

Pay is based upon relevant education and experience per hour.
Hourly Pay: $40.56 - $64.68 USD
