The Vail Police Department is seeking experienced police officers and recent police academy graduates who are passionate about serving a dynamic resort mountain community and contributing to a progressive police force.

As a member of our team, you will take on the responsibilities of a sworn law enforcement officer, enforcing the laws and ordinances of the State of Colorado and the Town of Vail. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring public safety by preventing and investigating criminal activities, responding to emergencies, and maintaining order in one of the most desirable alpine destinations.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualified candidates must demonstrate:

  • P.O.S.T. Certification (out-of-state certifications qualify; must transfer to Colorado upon hire).
  • 60 Credit Hours from an accredited college or university (BA or BS degree preferred).
  • Strong Public Relations, Communication, and Problem-Solving Skills
    , with a high level of integrity.
  • A clean background
    , with successful completion of polygraph, psychological evaluation, drug screening, and physical abilities testing.
  • Spanish language skills are a plus!

Out-of-state officers are eligible if they have had full arrest powers in another state or federal jurisdiction for at least three of the last four years, with one year of active service in the last three years.
