Patient Access Supervisor About the Opportunity

We are seeking a Patient Access Supervisor to support the daily operations of our registration and patient access functions. In this role, you will guide front‑line staff, ensure smooth admission workflows, and help maintain a high‑quality, patient‑centered experience. Under the direction of the Patient Access & Insurance Verification Manager, the supervisor will assist with human resources activities, staff development, process oversight, and department efficiency.

You Will Do
  • Direct and coordinate the daily activities of Patient Access team members to ensure efficient workflow and high‑quality service.
  • Manage staffing schedules to ensure proper coverage across all shifts; provide onboarding, training, and ongoing staff development.
  • Oversee and support timely, accurate, and customer‑focused admission processes.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between internal departments and external partners, promoting streamlined processes and ensuring required documentation is obtained prior to service.
  • Explain admission‑related forms to patients, including conditions of admission, patient rights and responsibilities, advanced directives, and privacy practices.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of billing processes and managed care contracts to accurately explain patient benefits and financial obligations.
  • Address escalated patient questions or concerns with professionalism, empathy, and prompt follow‑through.
  • Communicate across departments to verify complete and accurate registrations; provide staff coaching and corrective actions when needed.
  • Assist with admitting patients for outpatient surgical and minor procedures.
  • Track and report patient satisfaction scores related to the registration function; recommend and implement improvements.
  • Assist with developing departmental goals and objectives and implementing policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Manager of Business Operations to identify and implement technology solutions that enhance patient access efficiency and customer service.
  • Role‑model Just Culture principles and organizational values.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and perform additional duties as assigned.

What You Will Need

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of healthcare experience in a patient access environment required.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to manage the operational flow of a medical setting and exercise critical decision‑making to meet operational goals.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Pay is based upon relevant education and experience per hour.

Hourly Pay:

$24.11 - $34.25 USD
