The Vail Police Department is now accepting applications for a Future Police Academy Sponsorship. This unique opportunity is perfect for individuals passionate about joining a progressive, community-focused police department in one of the world’s premier resort destinations.
Selected candidates will attend the 612-hour Police Academy at Colorado Mountain College’s Spring Valley Campus in Glenwood Springs, fully sponsored by the Town of Vail. You’ll receive $38.75 per hour during the academy and, upon successful completion, POST certification, and departmental vacancy, you’ll have the opportunity to join the Vail Police Department as a full-time officer.

About the Role of a Vail Police Officer
Upon graduation and certification, you’ll serve as a sworn law enforcement officer, enforcing Colorado and Town of Vail laws. You’ll focus on:

- Responding to emergencies with professionalism and adaptability.

You should also demonstrate:
- A strong work history in a related field.
- 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university (BA or BS degree preferred).
- Exceptional communication, public relations, problem-solving skills, and guest service orientation.
- A high level of integrity and professionalism.
- Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are highly preferred.
- 21 years of age or older at the time of academy graduation.
Applicants must pass a polygraph, psychological evaluation, drug screen, background investigation, and physical abilities testing.
