We are looking for a  Director of Quality Engineering  to lead and transform our QA organization. This is a strategic leadership position reporting to the VP of Engineering. You will be responsible for shifting our culture from manual validation to AI-assisted quality assurance, integrating testing deeply into the software development lifecycle, and building a high performance team

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Transformation & Leadership
Modernizing Quality Engineering:  Transition the organization from traditional manual testing to an AI-assisted automated ecosystem. Guide process changes for test creation, validation, and execution leveraging AI-tooling.
Team Building & Performance Management:  Design the talent strategy. This includes upskilling existing staff, hiring Software Engineers in Test (SDETs), and making decisive personnel changes to ensure the team possesses the technical competence and adaptability required for modern Quality Engineering.
Culture of Quality:  Move the organization from a "gatekeeper" mentality to a "quality assistance" model. Work with engineering leaders to advocate towards "Shift Left" (testing in design/code) and "Shift Right" (testing in production/observability) mentality across the organization.
Technical Execution & Architecture
AI & Automation Governance:  Oversee the implementation of AI-based tools for test case drafting and maintenance. Ensure automation covers the "Testing Pyramid" appropriately (Unit > Integration > E2E) to reduce cycle times.
Data-Driven Insights:  Define and track modern metrics (Defect Escape Rate, Cycle Time, MTTR) to provide stakeholders with actionable insights during the evolution of our transformation.
Collaboration & Operations
and resilience in production environments.  Cross-Functional Partnership:  Collaborate with senior engineering leadership and Product Managers to define "testability" requirements during the design phase, ensuring no feature is built without an automated validation strategy.
Risk & Compliance:  Manage architectural risk through chaos engineering and security testing, ensuring high availability

Skills, Qualifications, & Experience
Required Leadership Experience
10+ years  in Software Engineering or Quality Assurance, with at least  4+ years  in a Director or Senior Leadership role.
Transformation Record:  Proven track record of guiding a team through a technical modernization (e.g., moving from manual to automated testing)
Talent Management:  Demonstrated ability to assess technical talent, coach underperformers, and restructure teams to align with business goals.
Technical Competencies
Modern Automation Stack:  A solid understanding of modern frameworks (e.g., Playwright, Cypress, K6) and languages (Python, Type Script, Go, or Java).
AI in SDLC:  Familiarity with leveraging AI agents to accelerate test creation and maintenance.
Bonus Points (The "Nice to Haves")
Background in Security (Dev Sec Ops , Info Sec).
Experience in highly regulated industries (Fin Tech/Health Tech) where "Speed vs. Compliance" is a key challenge.
