This Physician Assistant role will float to various Summit teams and locations to provide support throughout the organization in various settings (Clinic, Orthopedic Urgent Care, ASC s, Hospital). Could include both east and west metro locations. As a float you will have the opportunity to train in a variety of settings/sub-specialties (sports med/hand/foot ankle/spine etc.) which may provide opportunities to transition to a role on a specific MD Team, Orthopedic Urgent Care, or a Hospitalist role.
This is a full-time role working directly with a Foot and Ankle Physician and Team. Monday - Friday schedule of 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM (subject to change). This role has some variability with the schedule to best meet the needs of the team and patient care. This role involves working closely with the surgeon and second APP to diagnose and treat patients with Foot and Ankle conditions;
this role will be assisting in surgery as needed. Primary locations will be at our Vadnais Heights Campus with flexibility to float to other Summit locations as needed (Blaine, Plymouth).

Providers (PA/NP) that will work in non-Summit locations may need to be fully vaccinated or have been granted an approved medical or religious exemption prior to start date. These guidelines are determined by each non-Summit location and will be adhered to as appropriate.
- Function as first or second assist in the operating room, including performing surgical exposure, surgical dissections, layer closure of wounds, etc.
- Triages patient calls and evaluates patient problems. Responds to emergencies including use of CPR.
- Prepare patient for surgery, including positioning, skin preparation, administration of local anesthetic and equipment preparation.
- Conducts physical exams, taking medical history, image interpretation and patient evaluation/care.
- Consult with physician as needed and refer to physicians for more complicated cases or cases not in a routine part of a PA s scope of work.
- Orders diagnostic tests and scans and prescribes medications.
- Administer injections, participate in suture and dressing removal and manage simple fracture management/cast application and removal.
- Counsels patient/family on preventive health care, including pre- and post-operative education.
- Monitor therapies and provide continuity of care.
- Collaborate with the Foot and Ankle team and other Summit locations as needed to support patient care.
Summit s hiring range for this position is $113,152 to $141,440 per year. The hired candidate may be eligible to receive additional compensation in the form of bonuses, differentials and/or deferred compensation. If you are hired at Summit, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, experience, and internal equity.

Masters of Physician Assistant (required)
Experience
Previous PA experience in orthopedic setting is preferred. Qualified candidates must be licensed as a PA in the state of Minnesota. (preferred)
