Colorectal Cancer Support Nurse

The Colorectal Cancer Support Nurse will be expected to exhibit specific skills in the management of disorders of the upper & lower gastrointestinal tract arising from the straight to test service. This will include undertaking assessment, education and counselling wherever appropriate.
The post holder will work closely with the Colorectal CNS, endoscopy team, pathology, radiology and colorectal MDT coordinator, in the trust and have a clinical commitment to the straight to test and endoscopy services.
The Colorectal Cancer Support Nurse will contribute to the Straight to test/clinical pathway service; this will be across all sites of the trust and be directly involved in vetting and triaging the 2WW referrals.
This person will be supported by Macmillan Colorectal CNS, in addition to the endoscopy consultant body.
Clinical duties are essential and a key role in order to maintain competencies and support the complex nature of the role and patient pathway/ experiences.
This role requires an individual with excellent organization and time management skills.
The Colorectal Cancer Support Nurse is expected to be an experienced nurse showing professional & personal development. It is essential that the post holder can work within a diverse team, provide autonomous decision making and be aware of their limitations in accordance with NMC.

Person Specification Shortlisting- NMC registration
- Post registration experience; including relevant to area of work e.g. cancer diagnostics, medical or surgical cancer care.
- Working towards or willing to undertake Masters level study
