This position is assigned to a sub-separate classroom for students with disabilities.
The successful candidate should submit a letter of interest, resume, and three current letters of reference.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's Degree Required;
Master's Degree preferred. Massachusetts licensure in moderate special needs or equivalent as outlined by Massachusetts DESE, or qualifications to obtain such licensure while holding middle school licensure in another applicable subject area or specialization.
Experience:
The candidate should possess excellent written and oral communication skills and demonstrate an ability to work flexibly and collaboratively with students, parents, and the multidisciplinary team.
He/she should have experience working with and/or teaching students with disabilities as well as knowledge and understanding of a range of disabilities and the related needs in an inclusive educational setting. Candidates must have familiarity with Curriculum Standards as well as with formal and informal research-based assessments and interventions.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to inclusive pedagogy as well as to the vision of high expectations for achievement and equal access to high quality instruction for all students.
Experience with the development and implementation of student education and behavior plans, including knowledge and practices around grade level, state approved curriculum and resources
Writing, assessing, and reporting on student goals, benchmarks, and progress
Attendance and participation in the Team meeting process, including eligibility, annual, and re-evaluation meetings and IEP development
Provision of specialized instruction in primary content areas, including the development of modifications and accommodations relevant to student learning
Collaboration with grade level educators, specialists, and support staff related to students
Communication with families/caregivers related to student progress
Assessment/evaluation and standardized testing of students to support the eligibility evaluation process
Planning and providing direct instruction both in the inclusion classroom setting and in small group/individual settings per the student's IEP
Assessing student learning, monitoring students' understanding of the general education curriculum, and adjusting instruction appropriately
Consulting and collaborating with general education staff and specialists around student learning styles, differentiated instruction, curricula modifications, and teaching materials appropriate for students with a range of learning needs and abilities
Align academic instruction to general education classroom expectations
Developing IEP goals and objectives consistent with student IEPs and completing related documentation and paperwork in a timely manner
Ensuring compliance with IEP development and implementation throughout all aspects of the special education process in accordance with federal and state regulations
Facilitating annual review and progress update Team meetings, as needed
Administering and interpreting formal and informal educational assessments and preparing written evaluation reports, as needed
Collecting and analyzing student work samples and related data to monitor progress and identify skill gaps
Collaborating with and providing supervision to paraprofessionals/ABA Technicians
Maintaining consistent communication with parents
Provides support for para educators assigned to classroom support or student support.
