The Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse provides high-quality patient care to adult patients recovering from surgical procedures and acute medical conditions. The RN will assess, plan, and implement patient care while collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure safe and effective treatment.
Unit Details:
• Patient Population: Adult patients
• Common Diagnoses: Post-surgical care including abdominal pain, cholelithiasis, osteoarthritis, fractures, back pain, and bariatric (morbid obesity) surgery cases
• Specialty Equipment: IV pumps, nasogastric (NG) tubes, and feeding tubes
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
• Monitor patient condition, vital signs, and response to treatments
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and post-operative care
• Utilize EPIC EMR for accurate patient documentation
• Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality patient outcomes
• Provide patient education regarding treatment plans and recovery
Scheduling & Floating:
• Night Shift: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
• Floating Required based on facility needs
• Block scheduling is not guaranteed
Minimum Requirements:
• Travel experience required
• Active New York RN License (must be active at time of submission)
• Current AHA BLS Certification
