RN-Medical/Surgical (Night Shift)
- Location: Utica, NY, 13502
- Duration: 13 week
- Shift: 12hr Night; 6:30PM - 7AM
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekly Pay Rate: $2,088 - $2,232;
Depending on experience (negotiable)
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join a dynamic Medical/Surgical team in Utica, NY. This is a 13-week night shift contract role on a high-acuity Stroke Stepdown Unit. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in Med/Surg nursing and prior experience caring for stroke patients in stepdown or progressive care settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct patient care to adult medical/surgical patients with acute and chronic conditions.
- Manage and monitor stroke patients in a stepdown setting, recognizing changes in neurological status and initiating appropriate interventions.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members including physicians, therapists, and case managers to ensure coordinated, high-quality care.
- Administer medications, perform assessments, document in the EMR, and provide comprehensive nursing care per hospital protocols.
- Float to other units as needed within the RN scope of practice.
- Educate patients and families about stroke recovery, discharge planning, and health maintenance.
- Experience:
- Minimum 2+ years recent MS Stroke Stepdown experience.
- Documented travel nurse experience.
- Certifications (Required):
- Current AHA BLS
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
- Licensure:
- Active New York RN License
- All active RN licenses.
- Other Requirements:
- Proficiency with EPIC EMR
- Must be willing to float to other units as needed
- Will accept local candidates.
- Local pay rates will apply to candidates residing within 75 miles.
