Tax Preparer

Description We are looking for a skilled Tax Preparer to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Utica, New York. This role involves preparing accurate tax returns for individuals and businesses while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate will bring experience in using tax software and have a keen eye for detail to deliver exceptional service to clients.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and file individual and business tax returns in accordance with applicable regulations.

- Analyze financial documents to identify eligible deductions, credits, and other tax-saving opportunities.

- Respond to client inquiries and provide clear explanations regarding tax matters.

- Ensure all tax documents are accurate and complete before submission.

- Utilize tax software, including Lacerte, to streamline the preparation process.

- Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive financial information.

- Stay updated on changes to tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance.

- Collaborate with clients to gather necessary financial data and documentation.

- Conduct reviews of completed tax returns to verify accuracy and compliance.

- Advise clients on tax planning strategies to optimize their financial outcomes. Requirements - Minimum of 1 year of experience in tax preparation, including individual and business returns.

- Proficiency in using tax software such as Lacerte.

- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations.

- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.

- Ability to communicate effectively with clients and provide clear guidance.

- Proven ability to handle confidential information securely and professionally.

- Certification in tax preparation is preferred but not required.

- Familiarity with identifying deductions, credits, and tax-saving opportunities.
