Position Summary
The Logistics Lead is responsible for overseeing all domestic and international shipping operations for automotive components. This role ensures on‑time delivery, compliance with global trade regulations, cost‑effective transportation, and alignment with production schedules in a fast‑paced, just‑in‑time (JIT) environment.
The Logistics Lead serves as the primary point of contact for freight carriers, customers, customs brokers, and internal production teams, while driving continuous improvement in logistics performance.
Key Responsibilities- Lead all inbound and outbound logistics activities for domestic and international shipments
- Coordinate air, ocean, and ground freight to support global OEM and Tier supplier deliveries
- Ensure compliance with customs regulations, trade requirements, and Incoterms
- Prepare and validate shipping documentation including:
- Commercial invoices
- Packing lists
- Bills of lading
- Certificates of origin
- USMCA documentation (as applicable)
- Oversee ASN/EDI processing and customer portal requirements
- Monitor shipment status and proactively resolve delays or service failures
- Partner with production planning to align shipment schedules with build schedules
- Manage 3PL providers and freight carriers; negotiate and evaluate performance
- Analyze freight costs and identify cost‑reduction opportunities
- Maintain ERP accuracy for inventory movements and shipping transactions
- Support cycle counts and inventory control processes
- Develop and maintain logistics KPIs (on‑time delivery, premium freight, cost per shipment)
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Logistics, Business, or related field preferred
- 5+ years of logistics experience in manufacturing (automotive preferred)
- Experience with global shipping and customs documentation required
- Strong working knowledge of Incoterms, freight classifications, and international trade compliance
- Experience with EDI/ASN processing
- ERP experience (SAP, Plex, QAD, or similar)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Leadership and ownership mindset
- Strong problem‑solving skills
- Ability to operate in a high‑volume, deadline‑driven automotive environment
- Excellent communication and cross‑functional coordination skills
- Detail‑oriented with strong organizational discipline
