Assistant Manager II at Family Dollar

Location:

Job Type: Full-time

Duties
  • Assist with store functions and day‑to‑day store activities.
  • Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address any questions or concerns.
  • Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor as needed and maintain seasonal areas.
  • Perform opening and closing procedures.
  • Process corporate directives (Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey requests, and other communications).
  • Maintain promotional effectiveness of storefront fixtures and displays.
  • Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping (payroll, scheduling, cash register deposits and receipts), and loss prevention.
  • Ensure a well‑stocked, organized sales floor and stockroom to company standards.
  • Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and ensure all associates follow company policies and procedures.
  • Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
  • Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with professional interactions.
  • Maintain cleanliness throughout the store (clean bathrooms, sweep/mop floors, dispose trash, keep areas neat).
  • Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives required.
  • Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug stores preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 55 lbs. from floor to above shoulder height and tolerate frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
  • Ability to work in a high‑energy team environment required.
  • Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills required.
  • Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills required.

Other Information

We are required to obtain specialized licenses for stores that sell alcohol and/or tobacco. A manager may need to provide background information to obtain a license. Failure to comply may lead to demotion or separation of employment.
