Primary Position Duties- Assist with the training, scheduling, and supervision of the deli staff, ensuring they provide excellent customer service and maintain high standards in food preparation and presentation.
- Monitor inventory levels, place orders, and ensure that stock is rotated and properly stored to minimize waste and maximize freshness.
- Oversee and actively contribute toward food preparation to ensure it meets the company’s standards for taste, presentation, and food safety.
- Address customer inquiries, resolve complaints, and maintain a high level of service at all times.
- Ensure all deli operations adhere to local, state, and federal health and safety regulations, including food handling, sanitation, and cleanliness.
- Monitor department performance, manage costs, and work within budget to maximize profitability while ensuring high‑quality products.
- Drive sales through product promotions, special offers, and by recommending popular or seasonal items to customers, increasing overall deli department revenue.
- Greet and assist guests in a friendly and courteous manner.
- Provide knowledgeable answers to guest inquiries.
- Promote a high level of morale within the department and store, utilizing friendly but professional methods of honest and open communication with guests and team members.
- Provide excellent guest service by acknowledging guests promptly and taking their orders accurately, preparing and processing the guest’s orders promptly and finalizing their purchase in a friendly manner.
- Remain open to feedback from guests, leadership, and team members to consistently deliver an exceptional shopping and working experience for all guests and team members.
- Display excellent problem‑solving skills and pride themselves on finding the best resolution that exemplifies the “Lee’s Way—doing what’s best for our team, our guests, and our company.”
- Be familiar with, and assist customers with use of, Lee’s Marketplace website.
- Stock shelves and maintain displays according to store standards.
- Ensure product freshness by watching for quality in production, rotating stock, and checking expiration dates.
- Unload deliveries and organize stock rooms as needed; check all incoming items for quality and expiration dates.
- Ensure that all perishable items are stored at the correct temperature and that dry ingredients are stored in a cool, dry place to prevent spoilage.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of deli supplies and ingredients; use a first‑in, first‑out (FIFO) system to reduce waste and ensure older ingredients are used first.
- Ensure that all recipes are followed accurately to maintain product consistency and quality.
- Ensure that deli goods are packaged appropriately to maintain freshness and comply with food safety regulations, using proper containers or wrapping materials to prevent contamination.
- Ensure that items are correctly labeled with pricing, ingredients, allergen information, and expiration dates.
- Oversee the display of deli goods in the store, ensuring products are neatly arranged and rotated regularly for maximum freshness and appeal.
- Minimize product waste by tracking production quantities against sales; adjust production amounts based on demand to avoid excess unsold goods.
- Ensure that any waste is disposed of properly or recycled according to store policies.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow all safety and sanitation procedures.
- Ensure that all products are stored at the proper temperatures to prevent spoilage.
- Oversee hygiene practices for all deli staff, including regular hand washing, use of gloves, and proper sanitation of equipment.
