RETAIL STORE MANAGER

Sorrel River Ranch is a Four Diamond luxury guest ranch located along the scenic Colorado River, surrounded by 2,000‑foot‑high cliffs, buttes, and mesas. This exclusive 240‑acre riverside oasis is 17 miles from Moab, 21 miles from Arches National Park and 43 miles from Canyonlands National Park. JJ’s Mercantile, an old‑fashioned general store at the entrance of Sorrel River, offers a full range of groceries, farm‑fresh produce, baked goods, snacks, curated gifts, camping gear and branded apparel.

Position Overview

You are the ‘face’ of our store and ensure visitors receive a heartwarming welcome. To embody the company standard by exceeding guest expectations in all areas of service, manage details related to guest requests, propose solutions, and strive to innovate and streamline operations. Lead within the Sorrel hospitality team and support the team to deliver our products and services to the highest possible standard every day.

Position

Responsibilities
  • Manage front‑of‑house staff (retail clerk) including scheduling shifts and assist kitchen duties as needed.
  • Assist guests with questions and sales of retail items including clothing, general retail, and food items.
  • Stock shelves, inventory, and maintain general cleanliness of retail space.
  • Check guests out and assist with any purchases made at the store.
  • Process sales of pre‑made upscale Grab N Go foods (sandwiches, salads, wraps, pastries, desserts, etc.), including wrapping, boxing, pricing, and stocking.
  • Ensure timely and accurate customer service.
  • Handle complaints and specific customer requests.
  • Troubleshoot emergencies.
  • Prepare and monitor store budget, stock and supply orders.
  • Ensure the company’s policies and security requirements are met.
  • Purchasing Skills and Experience Working With Vendors.
Education/Experience
  • Extensive retail background, with a minimum of 3 years in a retail environment.
  • Previous experience using Shopify is a plus.
  • Knowledge of MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint) and Google Suite.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Good organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Problem‑solving skills.
  • High School diploma; additional certification is a plus.
  • Valid Utah food handlers' card and alcohol serving permit.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.
  • Flexible schedules: days, nights, weekends and holidays.
