Mortgage Field Services Inspector
FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but an ability to manage time and meet deadlines is crucial.

Responsibilities- Perform most inspections in 5–6 minutes.
- Complete each inspection within 4 days of assignment.
- Report general property conditions and determine occupancy using industry standards.
- Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
- Complete a short form in a mobile application.
- Drive extended periods, making many stops within the assigned territory.
- Computer with internet connection.
- Reliable vehicle (good mileage a plus as you pay for your own gas).
- Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
- Printer.
- Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate. Rates vary by county and volume, but you can earn an equivalent of $30–$40 per hour. Depending on the county—urban or rural—you may complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month, working 2–30 hours per week. Low‑volume counties offer higher rates; high‑volume counties offer lower rates. Your earnings increase with experience, availability, and territory coverage.
No additional mileage reimbursement beyond the flat fee per inspection.
