The Director or Senior Manager of Leadership Development is responsible for creating and implementing programs that develop leadership capabilities across all levels of the organization. This role focuses on identifying high-potential talent, building leadership pipelines, and fostering a culture of continuous leadership growth. The Senior Manager will lead the analysis, design,
delivery, and evaluation of leadership development initiatives that align with the company's business goals and future needs.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership Development Strategy:
Identify leadership competencies and skills needed for success at all levels.
Partner with senior leaders and HR teams to align leadership development initiatives with organizational priorities.
2. Program Design & Delivery:
Lead the design of leadership development programs including analysis, design, development, stakeholder management and buy-in, and change and implementation management. Lead the execution of leadership development programs, including workshops,
mentorships, coaching, and e-learning initiatives. Customize leadership development offerings to address the unique needs of
various business units, departments, and geographic locations. Integrate new and innovative approaches to leadership training, such as experiential learning, simulations, and virtual development programs.
3. Talent Identification & Succession Planning:
Collaborate with HR and department leaders to identify high-potential employees and future leaders. Work with Recruiting to support needed development for pipeline initiatives. Create development plans for emerging leaders and high-potential employees, ensuring they are prepared for future leadership roles.
4. Leadership Coaching & Mentoring:
Manage and coordinate leadership coaching programs and leadership mentoring initiatives. Support the efforts of HRBPs to provide coaching support to leaders across the organization to enhance their effectiveness and performance.
Ensure mentors and coaches are equipped with the tools and training needed to provide valuable development experiences.
5. Stakeholder
Collaboration:
Engage with key stakeholders, including senior executives, department leaders, and HR partners to understand vision, needs, and challenges. Collaborate with external vendors, consultants, and thought leaders to bring best
- in-class leadership development practices to the organization.
6. Evaluation & Continuous Improvement:
Measure the effectiveness of leadership development programs using metrics such as participant feedback, leadership performance, and business impact. Regularly evaluate and refine leadership development initiatives to ensure they
remain relevant, engaging, and aligned with the organization's evolving needs. Report on program outcomes and leadership pipeline progress to senior leadership, recommending enhancements as needed.
7. Learning Technologies &
Innovation:
Leverage learning management systems (LMS) and leadership development platforms to track, manage, and enhance leadership programs. Explore and implement new learning technologies and methodologies to improve
the delivery and scalability of leadership development initiatives.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development,
Psychology, Instructional Design, or a related field;
Master's degree preferred.
Experience:
7+ years of experience in Learning and Development, Leadership
Development, or Talent Management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Industry Knowledge:
In-depth understanding of leadership development best practices,
adult learning principles, and talent management processes.
Skills:
Proven ability to design, implement, and evaluate leadership development
programs at scale.
Strong leadership and coaching skills, with experience mentoring leaders and
developing teams.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and
influence senior executives.
Ability to analyze data and report on the effectiveness of leadership initiatives.
Experience with learning technologies, such as LMS, e-learning platforms, and
leadership development tools.
Certifications:
Certifications in Leadership Development, Executive Coaching, or Talent
Development (such as ATD or ICF) are preferred.
Additional Requirements
Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple leadership programs
simultaneously.
Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with evolving business priorities.
Willingness to travel occasionally for leadership program delivery or meetings.
