As a Maintenance Assistant - Equipment Operator, you will assist with the maintenance and monitoring of water treatment and processing facilities, ensuring safe and reliable water services. Your role will involve changing chemicals, sampling and monitoring water, and keeping booster and pump stations running at peak performance. You will also help with the installation and repair of wastewater systems, monitoring lagoons and equipment to ensure the quality of effluent water.
Fieldwork will include servicing waterlines, repairing line breaks, inspecting service connections, and maintaining metering equipment and fire hydrants. Alongside this, you will work on ongoing road projects, operating a variety of heavy equipment such as trucks, graders, dozers, and snow plows to maintain county roads, right‑of‑ways, and drainage systems. Your day may also include maintaining and repairing machinery, monitoring chemical sprayers, and performing journey‑level spraying operations to minimize risk and liability.
You will be counted on to keep equipment running efficiently and to help ensure everything from signage to cattle guards is properly installed and maintained.

WHAT'S NEEDED FROM A MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT - EQUIPMENT OPERATOR?Schedule: You will work full‑time onsite, on‑call from 7 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Friday
. Flexibility is important, as you may occasionally be required to work weekends and different shifts to meet the needs of the county.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1+ year(s) of experience in operation and maintenance of medium and heavy equipment OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid Utah Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or ability to possess one
- Utah driver's license with no DUI, ARR, or more than two moving violations in the past twelve (12) months
- Ability to pass the ICC physical and maintain a medical certificate
- Flagger certified or v
- Ability to obtain a pesticide application license and comply with county and departmental policies and safety standards
- Experience in water and wastewater system operations, including sampling, treatment monitoring, line repair, and lagoon management
- Pesticide applicator license
