This is a project-based employee role supporting the development and evolution of ASI's autonomous vehicle planning platforms. Development efforts may span multiple product phases and markets, with scope and duration driven by business needs, customer deployments, and field validation cycles.

About

The Role

We are hiring a Network Engineer II to support, maintain, and evolve ASI's network infrastructure across corporate environments and autonomous technology operations. This role ensures high availability, security, scalability, and performance of networking systems that support internal teams, customer deployments, and field validation efforts. Engineers collaborate closely with IT, security, robotics, and systems teams. Scope expands by level from foundational operational support (Level I), to independent ownership of network systems and improvements (Level II), to enterprise architecture leadership and advanced security implementation (Level III).

This role is based in Mendon, Utah, and may require occasional support of field deployments or remote sites.

Job Duties Network Operations & Infrastructure
  • Maintain and support routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, wireless systems, and related infrastructure
  • Monitor network performance, availability, and reliability across environments
  • Troubleshoot connectivity, latency, and performance issues
  • Install, configure, and upgrade network hardware and software
  • Support secure connectivity for remote teams and deployed systems
  • Document network configurations, standards, and troubleshooting procedures

(Level III scope includes architecture design, scalability planning, and enterprise optimization.)

Network Security & Compliance
  • Assist with firewall configuration, patching, and security updates
  • Implement and maintain VPN access controls and segmentation strategies
  • Support security monitoring, vulnerability mitigation, and incident response
  • Apply network security best practices aligned with industry standards

(Level III scope includes risk assessments, security audits, IDS/IPS implementation, Zero Trust architecture, and disaster recovery planning.)

Automation & Continuous Improvement
  • Contribute to network performance improvements and infrastructure upgrades
  • Assist with scripting or automation of routine network tasks
  • Participate in system upgrades and infrastructure modernization efforts
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support robotics and autonomous deployments

(Level III scope includes network automation using tools such as Python, Ansible, Terraform, SD-WAN implementation, and strategic infrastructure initiatives.)

Collaboration & Execution
  • Work closely with IT, security, engineering, and operations teams
  • Escalate complex issues appropriately (Level I) or resolve independently (Level II/III)
  • Adapt to changing priorities based on deployment schedules and business needs
  • Participate in technical reviews and contribute to continuous improvement efforts

(Level III may mentor junior engineers and lead technical initiatives.)

Experience & Qualifications By Level Network Engineer I
  • 0-3 years of experience in networking, IT support, or infrastructure roles
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Foundational knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, and routing basics
  • Exposure to routers, switches, firewalls, or wireless systems
  • Basic troubleshooting and documentation skills
  • Entry-level certifications preferred (CompTIA Network+, CCNA)
  • Ability to follow established procedures and grow technical expertise
