Position Summary
ACT Aero Space is seeking a highly motivated
Bid and Proposal Specialist
to support advanced composite development efforts and lead technical inputs for customer proposals. This role bridges engineering innovation and business development by translating technical capability into competitive, executable proposals. The ideal candidate has a strong engineering background, excellent communication skills, and experience supporting proposal development in an aerospace or advanced manufacturing environment.
Proposal Engineering
Lead or support technical proposal development, including:
Technical approach and manufacturing plans
Cost models, labor estimates, and material assumptions
Risk identification and mitigation strategies
Work closely with Business Development, Program Management, and Engineering to ensure proposals are technically sound and executable
Interpret customer RFQs, specifications, and statements of work
Support customer technical discussions and reviews as needed
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Interface with manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and finance to ensure alignment between proposed solutions and actual capabilities
Support transition from awarded proposals into production programs
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing, Materials, or related field)
3+ years of experience in aerospace, composites, or advanced manufacturing (proposal experience preferred)
Strong understanding of composite materials and manufacturing processes
Ability to develop labor and cost estimates for manufacturing programs
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel required for cost modeling)
Experience with aerospace proposals, RFQs, or customer bidding processes
Familiarity with AS9100 or aerospace quality requirements
Experience working with carbon fiber composites and autoclave processes
Background in process development or manufacturing engineering
Analytical and detail-oriented
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Ability to work independently and cross-functionally
