A K-6 elementary school in North Salt Lake dedicated to helping all students grow academically, socially, and emotionally in a supportive environment. We are seeking a part-time Behavior Support Specialist to join our team and work directly with students who benefit from additional behavioral, social-emotional, and self-regulation support.
Position OverviewThe Behavior Support Specialist works under the direction of school administration and collaborates closely with teachers, counselors, and support staff. This role focuses on helping students develop positive behavior skills so they can successfully access learning and feel successful s is a part-time position (up to 29 hours per week) and includes ongoing training and professional development
.
- Provide direct behavioral support to individual students and small groups
- Implement behavior intervention plans with fidelity and consistency
- Support students with emotional regulation, social skills, and problem-solving
- Assist with behavior support during transitions, recess, lunch, and in classrooms as needed
- Collect basic data and communicate progress with teachers and administrators
- Collaborate as part of a student support team
- Maintain a calm, patient, and positive presence with students
- Experience working with children (school, childcare, behavioral health, or related settings preferred)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and supportive in challenging situations
- Willingness to learn and implement behavior strategies and interventions
- Commitment to student dignity, safety, and confidentiality
- High school diploma required; college coursework in education, psychology, social work, or a related field is a plus
- Ongoing training in behavior strategies and school-based interventions
- Coaching and support from school administration and experienced educators
