Overview

Abbruzzese Brothers, Inc. is seeking a dynamic individual possessing the talent to not only design landscape and hardscape enhancement but can also execute the design by leading a team to complete the installation. This position is a working supervisor position.

Responsibilities
  • Client consultations: Meeting with clients to understand their vision, needs, and site constraints for their outdoor space.
  • Site analysis: Conducting on-site assessments to evaluate existing conditions like soil types, drainage, sunlight exposure, and topography.
  • Design development: Creating detailed landscape plans using computer-aided design (CAD) software, including plant selection, hardscaping features (patios, walkways, retaining walls), and grading plans.
  • Plant selection: Choosing appropriate plant species based on climate, maintenance requirements, aesthetic appeal, and ecological considerations.
  • Hardscape design: Designing elements like patios, walkways, decks, and retaining walls, considering materials, functionality, and visual integration with the overall landscape.
  • Budgeting and cost estimation: Preparing cost breakdowns for proposed landscape designs, including materials, labor, and potential maintenance costs.
  • Presentation and client approval: Presenting design concepts to clients, explaining design rationale, and addressing feedback to achieve final approval.
  • Project management: Overseeing the implementation of the design, including coordinating with contractors and ensuring project stays within budget and timeline.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Understanding of design principles like color theory, balance, proportion, and scale.
  • Extensive knowledge about plant species, their growth habits, and suitability for the application.
  • Proficiency in CAD software for creating landscape plans and 3D renderings.
  • Ability to effectively communicate design ideas to clients and collaborate with other members of the team.
  • Understanding of site conditions like soil types, drainage, and sunlight exposure.
  • Ability to manage project timelines, budgets, and coordinate with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, small engine equipment, heavy equipment, and materials
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. repeatedly through an entire work shift
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to train, lead, and impart knowledge on crew members.
  • Experience is a must for this position.
  • Salary will be based on level of expertise in the landscape field and ability to perform all aspects of the job that are required
  • Ability to work additional and/or nonstandard office hours as required, such as the occasional evening/weekend.
  • Valid Driver's License (Required)
Additional Responsibilities
  • This position offers the opportunity to work with crews and oversee a variety of projects including installation of landscape and hardscape projects.
  • Manage safety, quality and productivity of work at sites and/or shop/yard.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the day-to-day work activities of assigned crew.
  • Operate various tools and equipment while supervising crews, including heavy equipment, dump trucks, skid loader, chainsaws, jackhammers, measurement equipment, shovels, hammers, etc.
  • Participate in all snow removal activities
  • Read and interpret landscape drawings to help crews delegate/complete work activities.
  • Check foreman paperwork and submit all required paperwork on a daily basis, including crew daily forms, time and materials summaries, etc
  • Comply with all company policies and regulations
  • Maintain and enforce standards of cleanliness and organization in assigned crews’ trucks, trailers, equipment, jobsites, and shop/yard areas.
  • Communicate with customers and crews in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Comfortable in working well with a team, as well as being an individual performer in a fast-paced office and in field environment.
  • Work near heavy equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis.
  • Work outdoors in various conditions including heat and humidity, rain, dust, noise, and cold.
  • Flexible working hours including occasional weekend work.
