Job overview

Hughes General Contractors is seeking an experienced and motivated leader to assist in overseeing heavy civil construction projects. As an Excavation Foreman, you will supervise and work alongside our superintendent, a crew of heavy equipment operators, and laborers to ensuring projects are completed efficiently and safely.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise field operations with a hands-on approach
• Coordinate and sequence activities for heavy civil crews
• Operate various types of heavy equipment
• Examine blueprints to determine the dimensions of structure.
• Lay out floor-plans/worksite as needed
• Inspect work performed by subordinates to ensure conformance with specifications
• Shoot grades with level and GPS to very accurate specs
• Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules
• Analyze and resolve work problems
• Estimate, requisition, and inspect materials

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of supervisory/crew leadership experience
• 3+ years of heavy civil construction experience
• 5+ years of operating large heavy equipment experience
• Strong understanding of safety protocols
• Ability to carry 70 lbs. or more repetitively
• Physical ability to bend, climb, twist, balance, stoop, etc.
• High School diploma/GED preferred
