Under the direction of the company’s Superintedent you will be leading a crew of Heavy Equipment Operators, Welders, and Laborers to complete construction projects. While working alongside your crew, you will oversee each step of the project ensuring it is done accurately, on schedule, and on budget. Worksite safety is the top priority for all Field Foreman, so you must be able to identify and promptly address unsafe work environments.
You are responsible to ensure important information is communicated between the field crew and Company Leadership.
- Review and recommend ideas or procedures to help improve jobsite safety, productivity, etc.
- Read, analyze, and interpret plans, technical procedures, specifications, job schedules, and regulations for the job.
- Understand the method of construction utilized for each project. If you don’t fully understand, ask questions.
- Review and understand your scope of work and job budget.
- Assist management in updating project schedules and work duration forecasts.
- Enforce all safety regulations, company policies and procedures.
- Daily Onsite Management of assigned project and team members.
- Inform and manage team members on issues such as: rain events, time off, tardiness, work schedules, assist with reviews, job site disputes, etc.
- Develops subordinates by coaching and mentoring employees on a monthly basis or sooner if needed.
- Maintain good relationships with inspectors, engineers, subcontractors, and other key people connected with the project.
- Organize and ensure completion of assigned jobs in an efficient and timely manner.
- Ensure security of jobsite.
- Help ensure timely return of rental equipment on your site.
- Ensure that work truck is always maintained and kept in a neat and orderly state.
- Make sure that all equipment, tools, and supplies on the work truck are accounted for, replenished, maintained, and ready at all times.
- Ensure that all operators complete fueling and grease on their equipment at the end of each shift.
- Help ensure that all equipment required for your job is serviced and maintained in a safe working order.
- Ensure “Dig Tickets” or “Blue Stakes” are valid for assigned site, prior to commencing work.
- Help schedule efficient equipment mobilization and material delivery.
- Wear, and ensure your team wears, task-appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) required when completing tasks.
- Maintain inventory control over jobsite materials, tools, equipment.
- Acquire approval from the Project Manager for all overtime hours, for yourself and anyone on your crew.
- Preparation for daily job activities including scheduling equipment, staging materials, organizing the crew.
- Complete daily inspection and maintenance of the equipment.
- Daily coordination with the Project Manager.
- Conducting daily job site safety measures including Job Hazard Analysis, crew stretch and flex, and toolbox safety meetings.
- Complete all related job close out tasks.
- Attend monthly meetings including safety and foremen meetings, as well as any job hand over meetings.
- Complete Daily Reports:
Time Sheets, Field Quantity Reports, JHA, equipment notes, Crew Tracks including photos, etc.
- Daily documentation of crew members, job activities, and equipment notes are completed accurately (Crew Tracks).
- Jobs are on schedule and within budget. Deviations of either must be promptly communicated to the Project Manager.
- On-site equipment is well maintained and in working order. Equipment issues must be communicated with Shop Manager.
- Maintain a high standard of quality control on jobsites which includes keeping the jobsite clear of garbage and clutter (Our Mission is Precision. Underground).
- Exemplify consistent progression on knowledge sheet skills, encourage crew members to follow your lead, and recognize those that do.
- Focus on your personal growth in the construction industry through participating in educational opportunities. This includes staying informed on the latest construction technology and methodology.
