General Summary of PositionThe product manager for consumables is the strategic architect for the product lines managed. This role owns the end-to-end life cycle for Product Assortment, Innovation, Quality, Profitability, Sourcing, and communication of all GTM and post-sale product details with internal and external partners.
Product Assortment- Manage product assortment and ensure timely execution of product lifecycle transitions through sales analytics and customer feedback
- Identify gaps or white-space opportunities via data driven research to expand a full-package offering for new and existing consumers/categories
- Synchronize with Sales and Supply chain departments to ensure product life cycles are clearly known and executed across all channels
- Drive next-generation product innovation for existing and new product categories through market research and customer feedback
- Build strong relationships with key suppliers and contract manufactures to gain additional resources for idea generation and turnkey opportunities
- Navegate POEM/SWAT process for evaluating new opportunities
- Conduct R&D on product and ingredient ideas and solutions
- Extract consumer insights and analyze sales trends to identify opportunities and compelling recommendations for new products and positions
- Collaborate with stage gate team to build out robust launch calendar and ensure resource requirements are mapped out
- Aggressively manage all product costs and margins that align with company profitability and growth goals
- Maintain active cost schedule to take optimize volume-buying opportunities with supply chain
- Engineer competitive pricing positions that balance market demand with internal marketing and sales requirements
- Cultivate high trust relationships with current and new manufacturing partners
- Negotiate with multiple manufactures to discover cost savings and new service offerings from suppliers to reduce speed to market
- Develop redundancies in product sourcing to ensure product manufacturing is consistent and uninterrupted
- Research new manufactures and product categories that align with the company’s growth goals
- Serve as the ‘Single source of truth’ for internal teams via organized calendaring, staged hand-offs, technical trainings, and communicating constant and clear expectations
- Train and inform Customer Service on new and developing products
- Be the voice between CS and manufactures to help provide the needed info to take care of customers’ needs/questions
- Manage launch calendar and work closely with marketing/sales teams to ensure projects deliver on time
- Ensure all products meet or exceed quality testing standards
- Review and control label/marketing text/website as needed for regulatory compliance.
- Ensure compliance with USDA/FDA regarding manufacturing, documentation, and SOP’s

- Proven ability to multitask, detailed-oriented, and efficient with strong customer service skills

- Proficient in Excel, Google Suite
- Passion for the outdoors, product user with understanding of nutritional needs of outdoor athletes/lifestyles
- Reports directly to Director of Consumable Product Development
- Competitive salary based on experience (60-80k DOE)
- Bonus Annually (Revenue/Ebitda)
