Royal Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Certified Medication Aide (CMA) to join our skilled nursing team in Urbandale, Iowa. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe and accurate administration of prescribed medications while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations and delivering compassionate, resident-centered care.
Position SummaryThe Certified Medication Aide supports the nursing department by administering medications as prescribed, monitoring residents for adverse reactions, and maintaining precise documentation. This position also assists with direct resident care to promote comfort, dignity, and overall well-being.
Key Responsibilities- Verify resident identity prior to medication administration.
- Administer prescribed medications accurately and in accordance with physician orders and facility protocols.
- Document all medication details, including drug name, dosage, route, and time of administration.
- Monitor residents for side effects or adverse reactions and promptly report concerns to the supervising nurse.
- Record and document reasons for medications not administered.
- Obtain and record vital signs as required.
- Assist with direct resident care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, and supporting examinations or treatments.
- Receive, prepare, and distribute medications per established procedures.
- Maintain and restock medication carts and inventory as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable healthcare regulations and facility policies.
- Completion of a state-approved Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program.
- Successful completion of a state-approved Certified Medication Aide (CMA) course.
- Active certification in good standing in the state of Iowa.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to resident safety.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
