Maintenance Technician​/Maintenance Assistant

About The Role

Urbandale Health Care Center is seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance Technician / Maintenance Assistant to join our team. This role is responsible for performing a broad range of maintenance and repair duties to ensure our facility remains safe, fully operational, and welcoming for residents, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate is hands‑on, proactive, and committed to maintaining a high standard of safety and functionality in a healthcare environment.

• Maintain and repair facility structures, including walls, baseboards, doors, ceilings, windows, and mirrors
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs related to plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, and mechanical equipment
• Follow established maintenance schedules and supervisor instructions in accordance with facility policies and procedures
• Assist with light grounds maintenance, including cutting, trimming, sweeping, and maintaining parking areas and driveways
• Move and arrange furniture as needed to complete work assignments
• Replace light bulbs and maintain operational safety systems, including exit and overhead lighting
• Participate in the Preventative Maintenance Program to ensure proper function of machinery and building systems
• Coordinate maintenance tasks with nursing services, particularly within resident living areas
• Respond promptly to unscheduled or emergency maintenance needs
• Participate in on‑call rotation, including weekends and holidays as required

• Previous maintenance, facilities, or technician experience preferred
• Working knowledge of maintenance tools, cleaning materials, and repair equipment
• Basic understanding of plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Reliable, organized, and safety‑focused
