Position TitleEquipment Manager/Technician
General ResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision of the golf course superintendent, the equipment manager oversees a comprehensive fleet maintenance program, including major and minor mechanical repairs, record keeping of parts and labor, ordering supplies, and adhering to budget guidelines. Safety is a top priority, and the manager maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment that sets a positive example for all employees.
Specific Responsibilities- Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical defects in fleet equipment, including diesel, electric, hydraulic, and gasoline-powered vehicles such as trucks, trenchers, sweepers, rollers, and mowers.
- Maintain a preventative maintenance program within budget for all equipment, purchasing parts and supplies as needed.
- Keep accurate maintenance records in hard copy or digital format, readily available for the superintendent.
- Conduct frequent spot checks for equipment performance on the course and perform emergency repairs to avoid downtime.
- Train and instruct golf course maintenance employees on safe operation, proper cleaning, care, and preventive maintenance of equipment.
- Regulate employee use of equipment in the absence of the superintendent and perform additional duties as directed.
- Maintain a neat, clean, and safe shop, coordinating reel grinding, height adjustments, and cutting unit maintenance.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of light and heavy golf course maintenance equipment.
- Proficiency with a variety of repair tools.
- Understanding of hazards and safety precautions.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions.
- Diagnostic skills for mechanical issues and appropriate maintenance solutions.
- Effective communication with supervisors and crew members.
- Computer literacy for accurate service records.
- Basic understanding of golf and how maintenance impacts play.
- Physical ability to bend, stoop, lift up to 70 lbs, and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Willingness to attend workshops to enhance repair skills.
- Strong organizational and communication record.
- Ability to assist with other club facilities as needed.
Full time/hourly
35-45 hours/week
Salary$21.00-$29.00/hour (commensurate with experience)

Preferred ExperiencePrevious golf course equipment maintenance experience is preferred, but a strong mechanical or trades background with a fast learning ability is also considered.
