American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Surgical unit (T7) position requiring Epic EMR experience and Level 1 Trauma background, with day shift hours in an Illinois hospital setting.
Details- Hospital surgical unit (T7) caring for a complex post-operative patient population
- Provides care for patients with tracheostomies, wound vacs, complex wound management, and new ostomies
- Collaborates with general surgical and oral & maxillofacial surgery (OMFS) residency services
- Day shift schedule: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, 3 days per week (36 hours/week)
- On-call required on a rotation basis
- 13-week contract
- Active IL RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted)
- Current BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- Minimum 1 year of relevant RN experience
- Epic EMR experience required
- Level 1 Trauma experience required
- Associate's degree in Nursing (ASN) required; BSN preferred
- English proficiency required (speaking, reading, and writing)
- Performs comprehensive patient assessments, develops and modifies plans of care, and implements nursing interventions throughout the post-operative phase
- Responsible for accurate and up-to-date nursing documentation to support the healthcare team
- Patient and family education on new ostomies and other post-operative care needs
- Contributes to peer development and engages in ongoing professional learning
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
- RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract
- Travelers who have been on continuous assignment at this health system for 1 year must either convert to permanent employment or take a 6-month break before returning to any facility within the system
