Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Cardiology

Licensure & Certifications:
Active IL RN License
BLS (AHA) required
ACLS (AHA) required

Education:
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of relevant nursing experience

Experience with cardiac and vascular patients, including post-op CABG, thoracotomy, and vascular surgery
Ability to provide direct patient care, maintain unit competencies, and ensure a safe environment
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to collaborate with team members and proactively assist patients, families, and staff

Assignment Type & Schedule:
Day shift, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
Weekend shifts: 5–6 per 6-week schedule
Holiday shifts:
Department rotation
May float to like units

Provides professional nursing care to CVMS patients in a Med/Surg Cardiology setting. Responsible for patient safety, clinical care, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Responsibilities Include:

- Provide direct care to post-op CABG, thoracotomy, and vascular surgery patients - Complete initial assessment and develop individualized plan of care - Implement nursing interventions and procedures; modify plan as needed - Maintain hourly rounding and unit-based competencies - Report safety hazards and ensure safe patient environment - Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members - Offer constructive feedback to support professional development - Assist internal and external customers proactively
