Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Convenient Care (Med/Surg) position requiring Epic EMR experience and active IL RN licensure for a 13-week day shift contract.
Responsibilities- Outpatient convenient care setting (Med/Surg equivalent)
- Day shift schedule: 8:00 AM – 8:30 PM, 3x12-hour shifts per week (36 hrs/week)
- Epic EMR experience required
- Performs a wide range of clinical procedures including IV starts and therapy, wound care, EKG, catheterizations, splint applications, nebulizer treatments, ear washes, peak flows, crutch training, vision screenings, suture/staple removal, and point-of-care testing
- Assists providers with procedures such as vaginal exams, suture/staple placement, and incision and drainage
- Responsible for telephone triage and patient nurse inbox communications
- Provides direct patient care including rooming patients, vital signs, medication reconciliation, and chief complaint collection
- Serves as Nurse Lead when assigned and acts as preceptor for new staff and healthcare students
- Participates as a member of the Code Team when needed
- Provides patient education and written discharge/follow-up instructions per provider direction
- Manages prescription refill communications with pharmacies and patients per department protocols
- Maintains department-specific competencies related to point-of-care testing, equipment handling, and specialty training
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible
- Requested time off (RTO) not to exceed 7 days per 13-week contract
- Travelers who have been on continuous assignment at this health system for 1 year must either convert to permanent employment or take a 6-month break before returning to any location within the health system
- Active IL RN license in good standing required; temporary license accepted
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS (all American Heart Association)
- Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Level 1 Trauma experience required
- Associate's degree in Nursing (ASN) required; BSN preferred
- Must be fluent in English (speak, read, and write)
- Proficient in basic computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet, email, and web browser applications
