Registered Nurse – Operating Room (Neuro)

Licensure & Certifications:
Active IL RN License
BLS (AHA) required

Education:
Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required
BSN preferred

Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of relevant nursing experience
Knowledge of OR procedures, patient safety, and surgical support
Ability to prepare the OR suite, position and prep patients, and assist the surgical team
Strong communication skills and ability to provide handoff to receiving RN
Responsible for patient and employee safety, including reporting and correcting hazards
Participates in departmental competencies and professional development

Assignment Type & Schedule:
Day shift, 4x10s, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM (day off TBD)
On-call: 1 weekday per week and 1 weekend Fri–Sun per month
20-week contract

Provides direct perioperative nursing care for Neuro surgical patients. Completes assessments, prepares OR suite, supports surgical procedures, and ensures safe patient transport to PACU or appropriate unit.

Responsibilities Include:

- Prepare OR suite: supplies, equipment, medications - Interview patient using two identifiers (name and date of birth) - Transport and position patient safely on OR table - Perform surgical timeouts: entry, pre-incision, pre-exit - Support surgical team during procedures (extra supplies, blood, specimens, medications, dressing, etc.) - Transport patient to PACU or unit and provide detailed handoff - Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to departmental standards - Communicate effectively with team and provide constructive feedback - Participate in ongoing professional development
