Roles & Responsibilities

Apply structural engineering and detailing techniques to support the development of bid plans for railroad bridges, retaining walls, box culverts and associated railroad structures. Analysis, design, and detailing will be included. Daily activities may also include utilizing conventional AREMA bridge engineering design procedures, performing structural calculations, assisting with geometric layout, developing structural details, and using specialized software such as LARSA, MathCAD, LEAPBridge (CONSPAN), LPile, FB Multi Pier and Micro Station.

It is also expected that this person will assign, supervise, and review work and/or check design calculations, plans, estimates and specifications produced by junior engineers and Bridge EITs. Occasional bridge inspections of in-service bridges, or bridge construction, may be required. Concurrent project management, and task management, of smaller projects may also be included.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in civil engineering
  • SE, or plan to obtain SE license
  • 5+ years of experience in bridge and transportation structures design
  • AREMA design and railroad bridge inspection experience
  • Familiarity with engineering software packages such as: LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB-Multi Pier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, midas Civil, MDX, SAP
    2000, CSiBridge, ADINA, RM Bridge, sp Column, LUSAS, STLBridge

    LRFD, or STLBridge
Required Qualifications

Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example:
Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.

  • Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu and engineering software packages such as: LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB-Multi Pier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, midas Civil, MDX, SAP
    2000, CSiBridge, RM Bridge, sp Column, STLBridge

    LRFD, or STLBridge.
  • Knowledge of ADINA, LUSAS, Bentley Open Bridge Designer and Open Bridge Modeler and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3d.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Micro Station, AutoCAD, MathCAD, LARSA, Prestress Concrete Design
  • Experience using structural analysis programs and bridge design software
  • Experience managing junior staff
  • Excellent communication skills and working in a team environment
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
