Systems Engineer
We are seeking a visionary and execution-driven Vice President of Engineering to lead, scale, and modernize our engineering organization. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for driving technical strategy, operational excellence, and innovation across the enterprise.
Based in the Greater Chicago area, this hybrid role offers the opportunity to shape the future of a growing organization while building and mentoring a high-performing engineering team.
What You’ll Do Strategic Leadership- Define and execute a forward-looking engineering strategy aligned with company objectives and growth plans.
- Partner with executive leadership to translate business priorities into scalable technical solutions.
- Lead long-term architectural planning, modernization efforts, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Drive innovation while ensuring stability, security, and operational resilience.
- Build, mentor, and scale high-performing engineering teams across multiple disciplines.
- Establish a culture of accountability, collaboration, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Develop succession planning and leadership pipelines within engineering.
- Champion diversity, inclusion, and a strong engineering brand in the Chicago tech market.
- Implement best practices across SDLC, Dev Ops, cloud architecture, CI/CD, and security.
- Optimize engineering processes to improve velocity, predictability, and quality.
- Establish KPIs and metrics to measure performance, delivery, and business impact.
- Ensure compliance, risk management, and cybersecurity standards are met.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Infrastructure, Security, Data, and Business teams.
- Align roadmap priorities with customer and market needs.
- Communicate technical strategy clearly to executive and board-level stakeholders.
- 12+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience, including senior-level oversight of multi-team organizations.
- Proven experience scaling engineering teams in growth-stage or enterprise environments.
- Strong background in modern architectures (cloud-native, microservices, APIs, data platforms).
- Experience leading digital transformation or modernization initiatives.
- Deep understanding of Dev Ops, automation, security, and high-availability systems.
- Track record of delivering complex, business-critical technology solutions.
- Executive presence with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
- Experience in regulated or high-compliance industries.
- Prior P&L ownership or budget management responsibility.
- Experience supporting distributed or hybrid engineering teams.
