The School of Molecular & Cellular Biology in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign seeks applicants for a teaching position in the disciplines of Physiology and Human Anatomy at the rank of Lecturer. The position involves teaching a range of courses in the school with a focus on disciplines of Physiology and Human Anatomy.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Teach 5 courses, or their equivalent, in any Fall, Spring, and Summer terms cycle. These may include large lecture courses, multi-section lab courses, and small discussion sections.
- Supervise Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) and/or Undergraduate Learning Assistants (ULAs) for these courses, when GTAs or ULAs are involved.
- Devise and deliver assigned courses utilizing evidence-based practices such as backward design and employing active learning strategies, maintain and improve current course materials, and develop or revised course content as needed.
- Assist the MCB Instructional Program team in supporting students in the School of MCB by participation in academic advising, mentoring, recruitment, and other ways as needed.
- PhD in Physiology, Human Anatomy, or closely related discipline
- 3 years of teaching experience at the college or university level in Physiology and Anatomy
- More than 3 years of experience teaching at the college or university level in Human Physiology and Human Anatomy
- Evidence of instruction that includes student-centered and inclusive practices
- Discipline-based Education and/or Pedagogical Research experience
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Appointment Information
The Lecturer position is a 100% full-time, non-tenure track position appointed on a 12-month service basis.
The expected start date is as soon as possible after the deadline date. The salary range for this position is $70,889 - $79,000. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity. Reappointment is possible, based on funding, student need, and performance review. Sponsorship for Work authorization is not available for this position.
