Cox South Africa is looking for a Mechanical Technician who reports to the Operations Manager based in Upington.

Apply mechanical expertise to static and rotating mechanical assets to achieve plant operational targets to ensure all mechanical works are completed in due time and at minimum cost.

Execute assembly, repairs, replacements and adjustments for plant mechanical equipment and/or systems defined under plant maintenance plan.

• Ensure HSSE and Quality policies are followed during maintenance to prevent health, safety, or environmental incidents.
• Take ownership of plant mechanical equipment and strive to reduce equipment downtime and ensure high Plant availability at a minimum cost.
• Execute Mechanical day-to-day maintenance activities according to SAP-PM notification and priority set up by Mechanical Supervisor.
• Perform troubleshooting activities as necessary along with the Mechanical Supervisor, Maintenance colleagues and Operations, to determine failure causes and rectify defects found.
• Ensure that Contractors have all needed resources and tools to conduct Mechanical maintenance activities effectively and that tasks they perform are properly recorded in SAP-PM.
• Assists Mechanical Supervisor in preparing and scheduling daily jobs.
• Report to Mechanical Supervisor all jobs carried out and record them properly in SAP-PM.
• Participate in Plant scheduled shutdowns and turnarounds.

• Trade Certificate / Apprenticeship (Fitting & Turning)
• Diploma Mechanical/Electrical Engineering advantageous
• Must have a valid driver’s licence
