Candidates for this part-time position should have a knowledge of security practices, excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills and a commitment to customer service. Responsibilities include but are not limited to providing a visitor friendly atmosphere; monitoring premises to ensure safety and security for staff and patrons.
Must have valid State of Illinois PERC card.
Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing for the purpose of public interaction and report writing.
Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check and pre‑employment drug screen.
Must be familiar with library policy and procedures and initiate accordingly.
Must be able to stand/walk, actively patrolling library grounds and facility.
Must be able to lift 40lbs or more.
Must be dependable, well groomed, and willing to perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications- Previous experience as Security Officer
- Associate’s degree or at least two years of undergraduate work.
- High School degree/GED Equivalent
- Must possess basic computer skills and knowledge of software applications.
