The Infectious öffentlich Disease department is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to provide medical care and treatment within established scope of nursing practice as assigned by and under the direction of collaborating physician. The APP will contribute to multiple ongoing research projects focused on the epidemiology, సంవత్సప్ర నివాణారణు, management, and/or prevention of Substance use and infectious diseases. The UAB STD Program has a large presence in the STD clinical trial community.
The purpose of the program is to conduct research that advances the evaluation and management of STIs and provides students, community members, and researchers with additional access to sexual health research opportunities.

Comprehensive physical examinations and assessments: interpretation, and evaluation of patient medical records and data; serving as liaison between patient and health care provider; clinical training. Experience with infectious diseases clinical care or research is not required but is beneficial.

To provide medical care and treatment within established scope of practice to medical or surgical patients as assigned by and under the direction of the collaborating physician (Section 610‑X‑5 of the Alabama Board of Nursing Administrative Code) or under supervision of a Board Certified Physician (Section 540‑X‑7 of the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners Administrative Code). The collaborating physician shall be available for direct communication for consultation and referral or arrange for the same medical coverage by a physician who is pre‑approved by the State Board of Medical Examiners in the same manner as the collaborating physician of record.
To coordinate plan of care, discharge and specialty referrals as appropriate to meet the age harder needs of the patient. To plan and coordinate health care education for patient, family and other health care providers as needed. To perform comprehensive physical examinations and assessments. To interpret, analyze and evaluate patient’s medical record and social data. To perform and/or assist the physician with procedures per collaborative agreement.
