Description
Position SummaryThe University of Alabama at Birmingham, Nutrition Sciences Research, is seeking a skilled Researcher I to join their team to help produce controlled feeding and medically tailored meals for nutrition research within the UAB Dept. Nutrition Sciences. This would include, but not be limited to, working within metabolic kitchens to assemble, prepare, and distribute meals and snacks for clinically controlled feeding studies using specialized equipment.
GeneralResponsibilities
Under direct supervision, to perform various support functions in a research laboratory.
To maintain equipment, computer database and lab supplies.
KeyDuties & Responsibilities
- Prepares metabolic meals with precise accuracy and pays close attention to detail
- Helps to order, receive, and store, metabolic meals and food while following safe food handling practices.
- Safeguards all equipment through operation, assembly, care, and maintenance and maintains a safe, clean, and sanitary work environment.
- Distributes foods to controlled feeding study participants.
- Operates dish machine, scrubber, and other related cleaning equipment to ensure that all serving ware, food productions equipment, and sanitation of kitchen is maintained.
- Performs food safety and sanitation duties. Work alongside other staff and students to meet the needs of multiple clinical-controlled feeding studies.
- Assists in the creation and testing of menus that meet the needs of clinical controlled feeding study protocols.
- Assists with quality improvement assessments and data collection.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
$ 15.00 - $ 19.66
Qualifications- Associate's degree in related field OR High School diploma or GED and two (2) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
- Previous experience working in food service or with food service managers, experience with cooking and dietary interventions, and ability to communicate effectively and independently.
- Experience or interest working in food service, nutrition research, research, or clinical trials.
- Ability to pass the Serv Safe Food Safety Manager Course.
Weekend shifts may be required to meet the needs of nutrition research.
