Department of Physics - Postdoctoral Scholar - AthenaK
The Eberly College of Science, Department of Physics at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking to fill one postdoctoral scholar position in computational astrophysics. The successful candidate will lead the implementation of new features in the Athena
K code, in collaboration with Dr. David Radice (Penn State) and Dr. Jim Stone (IAS), and participate in the research program led by the Penn State numerical relativity group. There will also be ample opportunity to collaborate with other members of the Institute for Gravitation and the Cosmos.
This position requires a Ph.D. in Astronomy, Physics, Mathematics, or a closely related field.
Responsibilities- Lead the implementation of new features in the Athena
K code, in collaboration with Dr. David Radice (Penn State) and Dr. Jim Stone (IAS), and participate in the Penn State numerical relativity group research program. - Collaborate with other members of the Institute for Gravitation and the Cosmos as applicable.
- Ph.D. in Astronomy, Physics, Mathematics, or a closely related field prior to the start date.

The expected start date is September 1, 2025, with alternative start dates considered. This is a term position funded for two years with the possibility of a one-year extension. The appointment includes a competitive salary, full benefits, and an annual research and travel fund.
