Application Instructions
The Risk Management Department in the Smeal College of Business is looking to fill exam proctor openings starting in fall 2025. This position is only open to current Penn State employees (faculty, staff, technical service, or student) and current Penn State students; external applicants must use the external application portal.
- Current Penn State employees: login to Workday to complete the internal application process.
- Current Penn State students: login to Workday for the student application process.
- External applicants: click “Apply” and complete the application process.
Approval of remote and hybrid work is not guaranteed regardless of work location.
Job Duties- Transport highly confidential test materials from one location to another.
- Read standard instructions to students.
- Monitor test rooms during the administration of examinations.
- Enforce time limits and compliance with other examination procedures.
- Explain and answer questions concerning examination procedures and related matters.
- Distribute examination materials to students.
- Collect, check, and count examination materials.
- Check students’ identification.
- Report academic integrity violations and/or unusual occurrences during examinations.
- Proctors must be trustworthy.
- Be able to follow instructions exactly as given.
- Be able to effectively communicate and convey instructions to others.
- Have good written and verbal English skills.
- Be punctual.
- Must be 18 years old at the time of applying.
- Outside Smeal College of Business majors are preferred but not required.
Monday to Friday only; no weekends. Hours vary; required to work at least one shift per month and once during finals week.
