Associate Director for Employer Relations and Strategic Partnerships Summary
The Associate Director for Employer Relations and Strategic Partnerships provides strategic leadership to expand horizons for JCU students and alumni. The Associate Director serves as a lead navigator for our industry partners, cultivating intentional relationships that maximize student outcomes and strengthen the JCU network. By integrating employer engagement into career development, the Associate Director facilitates the vital connections between faculty, alumni, and recruiters that empower our students to move from the classroom to a successful Onward Launch.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Design and implement a data-informed employer engagement strategy that strengthens employer partnerships, enhances brand visibility, and drives recruitment & placement outcomes for John Carroll students.
- Proactively generate new employer partnerships through targeted outreach, industry engagement, and strategic presence at high-impact events.
- Lead the implementation and management of programming to include career fairs, employer/alumni panels and other networking and information events that will connect students to opportunities and help them gather career-related information.
- Supervise the Assistant Director for Alumni-Student Engagement and provide strategic guidance on developing opportunities to connect students with alumni for career exploration and advancement.
- Supervise the Experiential Programs Manager, ensuring we are providing substantive experiential opportunities for our students that meet both students’ and employers’ needs.
- Provide direction and mentorship to graduate assistants, student workers, and interns supporting employer engagement, event execution, and outreach initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records in the career database and CRM , analyze employer engagement metrics, and use data to report on trends.
- Collaborate with career coaching staff to identify student needs and partner with academic departments to align employer development efforts.
- Consider and evaluate new platforms that would enhance the work of the office, including CRM tools.
- Serve as the primary administrator of the career management system, including review of employer accounts, jobs, on-campus interviews, and event scheduling.
- Other duties as assigned.
- At least 3 – 5 years of experience in career services, employer relations, talent acquisition, workforce development, or other outreach or relationship-building role.
- Excellent project management and follow-through ability.
- Must possess a dynamic, professional demeanor with exceptional organization and communication skills, including presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to create and maintain relationships with multiple external constituencies to support connecting students to opportunities.
- Experience in planning, organizing, promoting, and executing events.
- Interest in understanding and supporting John Carroll’s mission to inspire individuals to excel in learning, leadership, and service in the region and in the world.
- CRM , database management, and/or knowledge of career services-related platforms.
- Understanding of industry and labor market trends.
This position works in person from our campus in University Heights, Ohio. University core business hours are generally 8:30 am – 5:00 pm. This position will require occasional work to be performed outside of normal business hours based on department operations.
Physical RequirementsPrimary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard;
to travel to other office locations and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
