Location & Pay

This posting is for University Apartments (University Village and 1855 Place). Pay Rate: $14.73.

Responsibilities

As a Facilities Building Worker, you will perform routine building maintenance including cleaning, event set‑up, and repairs. You will also be responsible for activities like sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and emptying trash. In this role you will make sure the apartments at MSU are looking and functioning their best.

  • Washing walls and windows, emptying trash, changing compactor carts, and cleaning bathroom walls
  • Clean upholstery and carpet, buff and scrub floors, and make minor repairs
  • Set‑up and tear‑down furniture after events
  • Occasionally operate heavy machinery

Required Qualifications
  • Be enrolled as a student at Michigan State University (during academic year)
  • Demonstrated commitment to outstanding customer service
  • Able to complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision
  • Positive and respectful, especially when working with a diverse population
  • Possess a valid U.S. Issued Drivers License and be able to meet and maintain the University’s driving standards
  • Able to work at least 20 hours a week
  • Able to occasionally work nights and/or weekends
  • Able to move up to 20 pounds and stand for long periods of time
