Litigator with experience in trust, estate and fiduciary litigation and commercial litigation. The position is ideal for a motivated attorney who has or wishes to develop a specialty in contested proceedings involving trusts, estates and guardian ships including contested probate and administration proceedings, will construction proceedings, accounting proceedings, fiduciary removal proceedings and other sophisticated litigation involving a decedent’s affairs and business dealings.
Responsibilities- Represent clients in trust, estate, fiduciary and related commercial litigation.
- Develop and prosecute cases in Surrogate’s Court and Supreme Court.
- Conduct depositions, draft pleadings, motions, discovery demands and responses, and perform legal research.
- Prepare for and participate in trials and hearings; manage occasions for complex proceedings.
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
- Admission to the New York State bar.
- 5-8 years of experience including taking and/or defending depositions; appearing in court; drafting pleadings, motions and related submissions; and trial preparation.
- Preference will be given to candidates with meaningful experience litigating cases before both the Surrogate’s Court and the Supreme Court.
- Estate planning and administration knowledge is a plus.
