Position: Meat Team Member (Service Counter) - Part Time

Job Responsibilities
  • Provides support as a member of the meat team, including duties related to counter service, stocking, and sanitation in the meat department.
  • Ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and Team Members at all times.
  • Perform duties in accordance with store Standard Operating Procedures and be prepared to perform the duties inherent in other Team Member job descriptions.
  • Support WFM core values and goals, promote programs and initiatives, and comply with health and safety regulations including food safety and regulatory duties.
  • Maintain a fresh and appealing display by checking quality, keeping cases and shelves clean and well stocked, rotating products, and performing other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain back stock in good order.
  • Assist with sampling program, keeping sample areas full, clean and appealing.
  • Clean cases, glass, signs, uprights, coolers, smokers, floors, and drains as required.
  • Arrive to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work; work all scheduled shifts and attend required trainings and meetings.
  • Provide excellent customer service, address customer needs in a timely and effective manner, and model suggestive selling techniques; answer phones and pages promptly and courteously.
  • Maximize sales potential through proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product.
  • Follow and comply with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment; keep equipment clean and in good working order per WFM standards.
  • Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned; ensure accuracy of signs and pricing.
  • Immediately report safety hazards and violations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership.
Job Skills
  • Ability to sell proactively.
  • Ability to learn basic knowledge of all products carried in the department.
  • Ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness.
  • Proactively reads labels and familiarizes oneself with various products.
  • Assists with periodic inventory checks.
  • Ability to deliver information clearly to fellow Team Members, customers, and vendors.
  • Ability to meet customer service expectations and standards in all interactions with customers, vendors, and Team Members.
  • Ability to follow directions and procedures; effective time management and organization skills.
  • Passion for natural foods and the mission of Whole Foods Market.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency.
  • Understanding of and compliance with WFM quality goals.
Experience
  • No prior retail experience required.
Physical Requirements /Working Conditions
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • In an 8-hour work day: standing/walking 6-8 hours.
  • Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.
  • Work requires bending, twisting, squatting and reaching.
  • Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals.
  • Exposure to temperatures: below 32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), above 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Ability to work in a wet and cold environment.
  • Ability to handle knives and other cutting equipment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to use tools and equipment, including box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.

The wage range for this position is $17.00-$25.40 hourly, commensurate with experience. Whole Foods Market offers Whole Benefits, including a store discount, paid time off, and health and wellness programs. Eligibility for Whole Benefits is determined at date of hire and may vary by location, length of service, and job type. New team members who complete their first 90 days may be eligible for a base rate increase after the 90-day anniversary.
