Reporting to the Manager of Markdale Site Emergency, Ambulatory Care, and Inpatient Services, the Nursing Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Emergency, Inpatient and Ambulatory Care Departments. The coordinator supports the delivery of care provided by nursing and interprofessional staff and provides direct patient care as required. The coordinator is responsible for staff scheduling, daily staffing assignments, patient movement and flow, and ensuring the availability and maintenance of equipment and supplies necessary for the delivery of safe, high-quality care.
The coordinator acts as a clinical and professional role model, promoting effective multidisciplinary communication, coordination of care, and the implementation of evidence-based best practices. The coordinator is expected to participate in corporate and site-based committees and to work collaboratively with other departments and sites across the organization to support operational efficiency, quality improvement, and patient-centered care.
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 2–5 years of recent acute care nursing experience (Emergency and/or Medical/Inpatient)
- Recent experience in a coordinator, charge, or other leadership role
- Experience in staff scheduling with working knowledge of ONA and OPSEU collective agreements li>Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience with, current legislation governing nursing clinical practice in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Strong patient assessment skills, including physical assessment and clinical judgment
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with patients, families, and interprofessional team members
- Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills
- Self-directed with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Commitment to continuous professional development and lifelong learning
- Willingness to coach, mentor, and support staff, students, and learners
- Willingness to participate in unit- and organization-specific initiatives and projects
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records

- Emergency-related certifications including ACLS, PALS, CTAS, CPI, Code Blue, TNCC, and/or ENC certification
- Arrhythmia interpretation certification
- Participation in professional nursing organizations such as RNAO, ENAO, or ENA
